What We Do

The UU United Nations Office is an associate member of the UUA with United Nations ECOSOC consultative status and DPI/NGO status (Both Unitarian Universalists and the United Nations use a lot of acronyms). Essentially, this means that the UU-UNO has privileged status as a lobbyist at the UN on social and economic issues and is recognized as a representative of civil society.

The UU-UNO continually focuses on a few important programs and works to raise awareness of them at the UN and elsewhere. Past programs, which remain important but now have more active support elsewhere, are AIDS awareness and education and fighting genocide in Darfur. Our current active programs include:
